Dario Vidosic said Albion will gain a lot from their 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

But he believes they might have grabbed a famous win over the unbeaten WSL leaders.

Goals from Maria Olislagers and Vicky Losada put the Seagulls ahead at the Broadfield Stadium having trailed early on.

Nikita Parris was involved in both goals.

Lauren James looked offside when she finished to give Chelsea their equaliser.

While Albion’s men were happy to see VAR in operation in their FA Cup tie, disallowing a potential Newcastle winner in added time, the women had no such luck.

A win would have been their first over top-flight opponents since November.

But the result is still a point gained for Albion who remain unbeaten at home in the league.

Head coach Vidosic said: “There was a lot of effort, intensity and belief in how we play.

“I am really pleased with the performance. I also know we can be better and we WILL be better.

“I also think it’s that mental side, where we are 2-1 up against the reigning champions, undefeated, so it is just how do we continue doing what we were doing in the first half?

“That is all part of it and we will gain a lot from this game.

“We have all been disappointed with our return from the winter break.

“But this was a good step in the right direction.”

Albion: Loeck; McLauchlan (Bremer 76), Thorisdottir, Bergsvand, Pattinson; Olislagers (Hayes 90+5), Noordam, Losada (Stefanovic 68); Kirby (Seike 76), Parris, Haley.
